Sales Supervisor – Trainee

The sales supervisor trainee develops the skills needed to lead a field-sales team, achieve route and volume targets, and maintain strong customer execution. The role combines hands-on sales exposure with coaching, performance monitoring and support for daily territory operations. This position is part of sales supervision and field-team development and contributes to reliable, professional day-to-day delivery. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, maintain accurate information and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include the following:

• Support route planning, sales-call execution and follow-up on customer orders or service concerns.
• Learn to monitor team coverage, target achievement, distribution, merchandising and product availability.
• Assist with daily sales reporting, performance reviews and territory-level action plans.
• Coach team members on customer service, product knowledge and agreed sales procedures.
• Work with operations and distribution teams to help resolve delivery, stock or account issues.

A practical understanding of the function, sound prioritisation and timely escalation will help protect quality, safety, cost and customer commitments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is relevant to the trainee supervisory role.
• Approximately two years of van-sales or field-sales exposure is useful.
• English, computer skills and a valid driving licence are noted as relevant for this role.
• Candidates should show leadership potential, customer focus and a willingness to learn in the field.

Candidates should show relevant experience, learn local procedures quickly and meet any required statutory or professional standards.

Skills and Competencies

The trainee needs communication, planning, numerical confidence and a constructive coaching style. Adaptability, teamwork and the ability to translate targets into practical daily actions support progression into a supervisory position.
