Trainer – Soft Services

The trainer develops frontline employees’ skills for cleaning, housekeeping and other soft-services operations. The role helps ensure that staff understand service procedures, equipment use, hygiene and safety requirements, and customer expectations, then checks whether training is being applied consistently on site. This position is part of soft-services training and service standards and contributes to reliable, professional day-to-day delivery. The successful candidate will follow established procedures, maintain accurate information and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include the following:

• Deliver induction, refresher and job-specific training for soft-services employees and supervisors.
• Prepare demonstrations, lesson materials, attendance records and competency checklists aligned with operational procedures.
• Assess employee understanding through observation, practical exercises and follow-up coaching.
• Identify training gaps from audits, customer feedback, incidents and supervisor input.
• Update training content when procedures, equipment, chemicals or service requirements change.

A practical understanding of the function, sound prioritisation and timely escalation will help protect quality, safety, cost and customer commitments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in soft-services, cleaning, housekeeping, facilities or frontline training is beneficial.
• A relevant training, hospitality, facilities or vocational qualification is an advantage.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemical handling, hygiene, PPE and safe working practices is important.
• Candidates should be confident delivering practical instruction to a diverse workforce.

Candidates should show relevant experience, learn local procedures quickly and meet any required statutory or professional standards.

Skills and Competencies

Effective trainers communicate clearly, demonstrate tasks patiently, adapt lessons to different learning needs and give constructive feedback. Organisation, presentation skills and the ability to measure improvements in workplace performance are valuable.
