Description

This role supports the planning and delivery of road urban design projects that combine technical quality, visual coherence, sustainability and practical public use. The position is suited to an engineering or planning professional who can translate design requirements into well-coordinated project outcomes and is comfortable balancing office-based technical work with regular site activity. This is a full-time opportunity based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide studies, technical specifications and design development for road urban design projects in line with approved frameworks and sustainability objectives.
  • Review contractor drawings and design submissions, checking technical accuracy, materials, details and compliance before implementation.
  • Visit project sites to verify that construction and finishing works match approved designs, specifications and agreed quality standards.
  • Coordinate areas affected by road works, including compensatory and remaining areas, with relevant stakeholders and municipal requirements.
  • Support project handovers and ensure completed urban design scopes are transferred to the responsible departments with the required documentation.
  • Prepare periodic and ad-hoc reports, coordinate supporting agreements and follow up on studies, budgets and contractual cost allocations.
  • Help improve contractor methodologies, design quality and documentation practices while contributing to policies, manuals and aesthetic guidance covering signage, public art and road beautification.

Requirements

Candidates should demonstrate the technical knowledge, analytical ability and stakeholder skills needed to operate effectively in a structured public-sector environment.

  • UAE National.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architectural engineering, urban planning, civil engineering, electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience with a master’s degree or 2 years with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Good understanding of road infrastructure, urban design principles, technical documentation and sustainability considerations.
  • Strong coordination, reporting, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Willingness to undertake regular site visits and coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders.
