Senior Engineer- Alerting & Incident Management

Job Objectives

• Build and maintain a robust and intelligent alerting framework
• Ensure effective incident response: fast detection, quick recovery, and root cause resolution
• Unify observability data (logs, metrics, traces) into a cohesive incident response workflow
• Drive automation and process discipline to reduce MTTD & MTTR

Role-Specific Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the incident management lifecycle
• Act as incident commander for major outages
• Manage on-call schedules, playbooks, and escalation paths
• Integrate observability platforms with incident response tools
• Conduct and document Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) and post-incident reviews
• Track and report incident metrics and suggest resilience strategies

General Functional Duties

• Maintain documentation on alert rules, workflows, escalation trees, and contact rosters
• Ensure compliance with audit, risk, and regulatory frameworks
• Align incident response processes with monitoring/APM/logging tools
• Integrate best practices in SDLC and change management
• Conduct regular incident simulations and drills
• Promote a culture of blameless post-mortems and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Competencies

• Strong experience in tools such as:
  • Opsgenie
  • Splunk On-Call
  • VictorOps
  • ServiceNow Event Management
• Knowledge of:
  • Alert routing rules, deduplication, and escalation policies
  • On-call scheduling and noise suppression
  • Leading major incident bridges and stakeholder communication
  • Post-incident reviews (PIRs/RCAs)

• Calm under pressure and assertive during crises
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with both technical and business teams
• Strong documentation and analytical mindset
