Description
The Audio Visual Technician helps prepare, operate and troubleshoot sound, display, lighting or meeting-room equipment. The role supports meetings, events and day-to-day guest or business needs by ensuring equipment is tested, connected and ready when required. Practical technical knowledge, responsive service and safe equipment handling are important. The successful candidate is expected to approach assigned work professionally, follow established procedures and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers. Work should be completed carefully, with issues raised early rather than left unresolved.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow electrical safety, manual-handling and site procedures while installing or moving equipment.
- Set up microphones, speakers, displays, projectors, conferencing equipment and related accessories for scheduled activities.
- Test connections and equipment before use, troubleshoot common faults and escalate problems requiring specialist support.
- Coordinate with event organisers or property teams to confirm technical requirements, timing and room layouts.
- Operate equipment during meetings or events and respond quickly to reasonable technical requests.
- Maintain equipment inventories, report damage and ensure cables and devices are stored safely after use.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Technical training or hands-on experience with audio visual, IT support or event technology is beneficial.
