Principal AI Engineer

An AI Factory initiative in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to shape and deliver advanced artificial intelligence platforms for enterprise use. This is a senior engineering role with responsibility for technical architecture as well as practical implementation. The engineer will guide solutions built around Generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation and agent-based systems, while ensuring that the services behind them are dependable and ready for production. The position also involves setting technical direction, solving complex engineering problems and supporting the development of the wider engineering team.

The role is full time and calls for at least 15 years of professional engineering experience. The estimated salary range is AED 40,000–60,000 per month. A formal educational qualification was not specified.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable AI platforms for enterprise applications.
• Set architecture for Generative AI, LLM, RAG and Agentic AI solutions.
• Develop and maintain distributed backend services, APIs and microservice-based systems.
• Deploy AI workloads on cloud-native infrastructure and support reliable production operation.
• Review system performance and guide improvements to scalability, security and maintainability.
• Work with product, platform and business teams to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers, review technical decisions and encourage sound engineering standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 15 years of professional software or engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Python, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG and agentic workflows.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, backend architecture, APIs and microservices.
• Practical experience with LLM serving, PostgreSQL, Microsoft Azure and Kubernetes.
• A record of leading technical teams and taking complex systems into production.
• Strong analytical, communication and technical leadership skills.
