Job Overview
The Data Engineer builds and operates reliable data pipelines and curated datasets for analytics, reporting, regulatory needs and AI initiatives. The work centres on producing trusted, secure and scalable data assets that business and technology teams can use with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy and maintain data pipelines for batch, streaming and near-real-time workloads.
- Build ingestion, transformation and enrichment processes and maintain reusable data models.
- Apply data-quality controls, reconciliations, monitoring and automated testing to important datasets.
- Support migration from legacy data solutions to modern cloud and lakehouse platforms.
- Troubleshoot production issues, investigate root causes and improve pipeline reliability.
- Work with architects, analysts, governance teams and business partners using version control and delivery practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
- The role specifies 3–7 years in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on SQL, Python, PySpark and Spark SQL skills are important.
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Databricks Workflows and Databricks SQL is called for.
- Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, dbt, change-data-capture, Kafka/Confluent, data modelling, governance and CI/CD is useful; Azure or Databricks certifications are an advantage.
