Description
DAMAC Properties is looking for a senior electrical engineering professional to lead the design coordination and technical delivery of hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects in Dubai. The position is responsible for electrical systems from concept development and engineering planning through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will ensure that each solution supports high availability, operational resilience, energy efficiency, maintainability and the technical requirements of the project.
The role acts as a key engineering authority and works closely with internal teams, international consultants, contractors, equipment manufacturers, utilities and specialist vendors. It also supports procurement, construction administration, value engineering and the continuous improvement of engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design and develop design strategies, execution plans and technical roadmaps for data centre projects.
- Manage HV, MV and LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generators, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, small power and related infrastructure.
- Guide the design of mission-critical power systems to achieve suitable redundancy, reliability and resilience.
- Review and approve concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC and as-built deliverables, and confirm compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Coordinate electrical interfaces with architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, ICT, ELV, security and specialist systems.
- Monitor consultant performance, schedules and milestones; conduct design audits, technical reviews and constructability assessments.
- Review vendor offers, equipment specifications and shop drawings, identify technical risks, and support construction, testing, integrated systems testing and handover.
- Present progress and technical recommendations to senior management while coaching and developing engineering teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Project Management is preferred.
- At least 15 years of electrical design and project delivery experience, including 7-10 years leading teams on hyperscale, mission-critical or major infrastructure projects.
- Proven delivery of complex data centre developments from concept through commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, busway, electrical protection, grounding and lightning protection.
- Good understanding of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS standards and local authority requirements, with strong communication, stakeholder management and decision-making skills.
