Description
DAMAC Properties is seeking an experienced design leader to guide the electrical and extra-low-voltage (ELV) engineering strategy for data centre developments in Dubai. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from early planning and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction, testing, commissioning and operational handover. The successful candidate will help deliver dependable, resilient, scalable and energy-efficient infrastructure that meets project needs, company standards, international codes and local authority requirements.
This position combines technical direction, design governance, consultant management and team leadership. It also involves assessing emerging technologies and improving engineering standards across the data centre portfolio, including facilities with demanding power and availability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the electrical design strategy for medium- and low-voltage distribution, transformers, generators, UPS systems, switchgear, ATS/STS, busway, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, small power, EPMS and ELV systems.
- Review calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, equipment selections and technical submissions to confirm quality and compliance.
- Manage design consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring delivery against approved scope, budget and programme.
- Improve redundancy, power quality, system capacity, maintainability, energy efficiency and lifecycle performance, including for high-density and AI data centre environments.
- Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, structural, civil, ICT, security, fire and life-safety, operations and project teams.
- Provide technical oversight during construction, testing, commissioning and handover, and lead the development of the electrical engineering team.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; a master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience, including major data centre or other mission-critical projects.
- Strong knowledge of MV/LV infrastructure, UPS, generators, ELV systems, BMS/BAS, CCTV, access control and fire alarm systems.
- Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN standards and local authority requirements.
- Experience with ETAP, AMTECH, Dialux or equivalent, together with AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office.
- Strong design governance, commercial awareness, risk assessment, communication and leadership skills. Professional registration or an internationally recognised certification is preferred.
