Description
Assess and underwrite retail credit applications while applying approved credit policies, delegated authority and sound risk judgement to maintain portfolio quality. This position is suited to a professional who can combine sound judgement, customer or stakeholder focus and disciplined execution in a regulated banking environment.
Role Context

Key Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite credit applications for relevant retail banking products.
- Analyse customer income, liabilities, financial information and supporting documents to assess repayment capacity.
- Make decisions within delegated authority and refer exceptions or higher-value cases appropriately.
- Review policy deviations, restructuring requests and other non-standard cases with sound risk judgement.
- Maintain high underwriting accuracy and productivity without compromising credit quality.
- Document decisions clearly and ensure supporting evidence meets policy requirements.
- Monitor recurring risk themes and contribute to improvements in credit processes and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in credit analysis, underwriting or retail banking risk.
- Good knowledge of financial analysis, credit policy and delegated-authority frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail, decision-making and analytical skills.
