The Ecommerce Architect guides the technical structure of digital commerce systems and connected enterprise applications. The role ensures that platform choices, application design, APIs, data movement and infrastructure work together to provide reliable, secure and scalable shopping experiences. It combines technical direction with practical support for engineering teams, helping modernise legacy systems, reduce duplication, evaluate emerging technologies and deliver solutions that remain aligned with business goals and enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Design application and solution architectures for e-commerce platforms, custom applications, SaaS products and enterprise systems.
- Convert business requirements into clear technical options and document architecture decisions, dependencies and delivery risks.
- Guide API-led and event-based integrations, data exchange, cloud deployment and application security patterns.
- Assess opportunities for AI, machine learning, intelligent search and workflow automation within digital commerce experiences.
- Support platform modernization, cloud adoption, performance improvements, monitoring and production-readiness planning.
- Review technical designs, collaborate with domain architects and mentor engineers in architecture and implementation practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Substantial experience in enterprise application development, e-commerce technology or solution architecture.
- Experience delivering scalable digital or enterprise systems and guiding engineering teams through implementation.
- Practical programming knowledge in a language such as Java or Python.
- Understanding of cloud services, integration patterns, identity and access controls, DevOps and operational resilience.
Required Skills
Useful strengths include application design, system integration, architectural documentation, risk assessment and stakeholder communication. Familiarity with major cloud providers, e-commerce platforms, automated delivery pipelines, testing and AI-enabled solutions is an advantage.
