Description

The Urban Planner will play a vital role in shaping Dubai’s urban environment through the design, coordination, and implementation of integrated land use, transport, and infrastructure plans. The role supports RTA’s long-term vision of smart, sustainable, and livable urban development, in alignment with Dubai’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review urban and transport planning strategies, master plans, and land-use policies.
  • Analyze urban development proposals, demographic data, transportation models, and infrastructure needs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, government entities, and consultants to ensure urban plans align with RTA and city-wide objectives.
  • Conduct spatial, socio-economic, and environmental impact assessments for proposed urban developments.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, public consultations, and inter-agency planning workshops.
  • Prepare technical reports, policy documents, GIS maps, and visual presentations.
  • Support the planning and evaluation of transit-oriented developments (TOD), smart mobility hubs, and integrated transport corridors.
  • Monitor implementation progress of planning projects and assist with regulatory compliance and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
    (Master’s degree preferred for senior roles)
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant work experience in urban or transport planning within government, consultancy, or development sectors.
  • Strong understanding of urban policy, land use planning, zoning regulations, and mobility integration.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS), AutoCAD, and planning visualization tools
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable development, urban infrastructure, and smart city concepts
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple planning projects simultaneously
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
