Description

The Assistant Manager – Credit Risk evaluates lending proposals from Wholesale Banking business units and helps maintain the quality of the bank’s corporate credit portfolio. The role forms part of the credit control function, assessing risk exposures, reviewing credit limits and recommending appropriate actions to management. It involves continuous monitoring of assigned portfolios and ensuring that credit decisions remain consistent with the bank’s standards and applicable UAE Central Bank requirements. The position requires consistent review rather than a one-time assessment. Credit quality can change as customer circumstances and market conditions develop, so the role holder should monitor warning signs, maintain clear records and bring material issues to management attention in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse wholesale credit proposals and prepare risk assessments for management consideration.
  • Evaluate borrower and facility risks and recommend suitable mitigation measures.
  • Monitor the quality of assigned corporate accounts and identify exposures that may be weakening.
  • Check lending proposals against internal credit policies and applicable UAE Central Bank regulations.
  • Follow up on borderline and substandard accounts to reduce the risk of further deterioration.
  • Provide advice to business units on difficult accounts and monitor agreed recovery or management actions.
  • Review weaker exposures and provide recommendations on appropriate provisioning.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • UAE National status is an explicit eligibility condition.
  • A named academic qualification or minimum years of experience is not specified.
  • Relevant knowledge of credit assessment, corporate lending or portfolio risk is appropriate to the responsibilities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Credit analysis and financial judgement.
  • Portfolio monitoring, risk identification and clear written recommendations.
  • Communication with business teams and awareness of regulatory controls.
