Description
Job Purpose:
- Maintain existing and originate new NBFI relationships globally in markets within Mashreq’s international footprint
- Focused business growth through onboarding NTB Clients and maintaining existing clients in scope, which includes, Global Financial Sponsors, Asset Managers and Broker – Dealers
- Demonstrate strong ability in independently structuring complex fund financing facilities (and see them through credit approvals and execution)
- Originate client business with products including GTB Payments and Liquidity Management (PLM), Treasury and Capital Markets (TCM), Investment Banking (Loans, DCM, M&A, other structured solutions)
- Deepen Mashreq’s relationships and client resonance through senior level client engagement, greater share of mind and high-quality dialogue
- Act as a senior ambassador for the Mashreq brand with mentorship provided to junior members of the team
- Capable of being groomed of succession planning across the department
Key Result Areas:
Business Development
- Develop, lead and implement business and client strategies which maximize value for MB, while managing the Bank’s risk appetite and capabilities
- Anticipate clients’ needs and provide solutions for their needs working with relevant product partners
- Work closely with Mashreq country management to identify untapped NBFI opportunities
- Financial Sponsors and Asset Managers:
1- Originate NTB global relationships to provide fund financing solutions where LPs are from the GCC
2- Demonstrate ability to originate such transactions, structure them, and see these through execution
3- Have existing relationships with asset managers from the region to penetrate further for leverage requirements
- Broker – Dealers:
1-Develop and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers Broker-Dealers for cash management requirements, keeping in line with compliance and regulatory requirements
- Provide focus and direction to product partners to ensure MB focusses on clients and business that make sense economically and for the franchise
- Drive business ethos of NBFI, emphasizing cross-sell, long term relationship development and appropriate returns
- Keep up-to-date with market, regulatory, competitive dynamics and industry conditions that impact portfolio performance
Financial Performance, Risk and Audit Management
- Achieve agreed financial and non-financial objectives
- Achieve targeted Asset growth supported by cross-sell
- Be a subject matter expert in the areas of Structured Debt and TCM and demonstrate elevated capabilities of managing complex credits and related credit discussions
- Portfolio Quality: Implement credit controls, and periodic reviews in line with the bank’s credit policy and local regulatory directives in order to maintain a satisfactory portfolio quality
- Risk Compliance & Relationships: Ensure adherence to the internal and external audit and compliance requirements
- Achieve a satisfactory rating in audit and ensure strict compliance to the Bank’s policies
People and Talent
- Provide effective leadership and guidance to other members of the unit and other groups including the Credit Analysis team
- Cooperate with senior colleagues in CIBG and IBG to ensure management and stakeholders buy-in to and support the NBFI strategy and vice versa
- Maintain an effective operating environment by leading broader aspects of business including both line and support functions
- Lead the way on culture and values to set the appropriate tone across the NBFI team
Management Submissions
- Support NBFI Unit Head in preparing management presentations and reports related to strategy and client planning
- Independently prepare high quality, effective, transactional write-up, client memos and briefing notes suitable for C-Suite review
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Extensive client relationships across the in-scope client sub-segments
- Team leadership experience
- Strong NBFI credit and legal knowledge, marketing skills and portfolio management experience
- Thorough awareness of NBFI commercial banking products
- Deep knowledge of the local markets and the regulatory environment
- Proven leadership strengths including communications skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Team player and coach
- Minimum regional FI / NBFI banking experience of 10 years
- Strong preference for a candidate with working experience in the US, UK, European markets
- Strong preference for a Postgraduate, CFA, CA qualification
