Description
Job Purpose
To support the Director – In-Business Control & Governance in maintaining a strong risk and governance framework across Retail Banking. The role is responsible for issue management, vendor oversight, compliance coordination, governance tracking, and control testing to ensure operational discipline and audit readiness.
Key Result Areas & Responsibilities
Governance & Controls- Monitor and report on Monthly Exception Reports (MER); ensure timely follow-ups and closure tracking.
- Conduct RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) sample testing, identify exceptions, and coordinate with business teams for closure.
- Identify and report operational risk events (OREs) as per internal protocols.
- Escalate potential fraud cases to Fraud & Investigation (F&I) for further review.
- Ensure timely closure of all audit observations, QA findings, RAR issues, and business process gaps.
- Support the business in maintaining audit readiness through documentation, awareness, and control testing.
- Coordinate with CAM/Compliance teams for the remediation of cases related to CRS, FATCA, EID, and KYC Compliance Exits.
- Perform detailed KYC and application reviews, especially for CASA applications, ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate mortgage broker incentive payouts and enter payments in the vendor management system to ensure on-time disbursements.
- Conduct regular vendor site visits to validate adherence to SOPs, clean desk policy, application tracking, and calling activity logs.
- Prepare incentive payout files for mortgage sales staff in line with approved plans.
- Review exceptional customer requests/complaints (via CXCG, Sales, or Branches) and obtain necessary ADM approvals.
- Support onboarding of Channel Managers (CMs) under MER with full documentation and approval compliance.
- Support Auto BCM reviews and approvals and conduct client verification calls with brokers as per SOP to detect potential fraud.
- Track and report sales MIS, providing accurate data and insights to business stakeholders.
- Maintain and update SOPs, SLAs, and OPMs to reflect current business practices and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver training to new hires and ensure adequate backup planning to maintain workflow continuity.
- Participate in ad hoc projects or initiatives as assigned by the line manager.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience
Education- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (required).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a governance, audit, operations, or compliance-related role in banking or financial services.
- Strong knowledge of banking operations, KYC, FATCA/CRS, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Proficient in vendor management systems and MIS preparation.
- Detail-oriented with a risk mindset and the ability to operate under pressure.
- Positive, collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and ensure high integrity in execution.
