About the Role

The Collection & Recovery Department of Emirates NBD Bank safeguards the bank’s asset quality by ensuring the timely recovery of overdue and defaulted financing facilities. The Legal Collections Unit within the department plays a critical role in pursuing legal remedies when amicable recovery efforts fail. All actions are guided by UAE civil laws, Central Bank regulations with a focus on ethical, fair, and professional practices across Retail portfolios.

What You'll Do

FR Legal Officer is responsible for initiating and managing legal recovery actions for overdue accounts, including Personal Loan, Credit Cards, Auto Loan, Home Loan and SME facilities. The officer will assess delinquent accounts, prepare legal documentation, engage with external legal counsel, courts, and regulatory bodies, and ensure that legal actions are executed within the framework of UAE law to protect the bank’s interests and maximize recoveries.

  • Review delinquent and non-performing accounts referred by the collections team for legal escalation.
  • Analyze financing contracts and assess legal viability of action.
  • Prepare and issue legal notices, demand letters, and court submissions in coordination with internal legal and external law firms.
  • Initiate legal actions for bounced cheques, unpaid debts, or contract breaches through the UAE judicial system.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors, police, and court authorities to ensure proper filing and follow-up on cases.
  • Track and report the progress of legal cases including hearing dates, judgments, and enforcement status.
  • Work with internal stakeholders (collections, credit, risk) to ensure case consistency and approval workflows.
  • Recommend accounts for settlement, restructuring, repossession, or legal closure based on case merit and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Ensure legal documents, case records, and action logs are accurately maintained in the bank’s legal MIS systems.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and compliance functions with case-level documentation and updates.
  • Ensure all legal actions are conducted in a respectful, and customer-conscious manner, maintaining the bank’s reputation.

What You'll Need

  • UAEN with the family book.
  • Job Location: Al Ain.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, legal tracking systems, and banking software.
  • Ability to interpret and apply banking concepts to legal enforcement.
  • Skilled in preparing legal documents, reviewing contracts, and interacting with legal authorities.
  • A proactive and customer-centric approach.

Bonus Points

  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably within the banking industry.
  • Licensed to practice law is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with UAE court procedures, bounced cheque cases, and contractual dispute resolution.
  • Available to join immediately is a plus.
