Description
Responsible for managing and controlling the published crew rosters for the assigned airline with the goal of achieving daily On-Time Performance (OTP). This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies related to Crew Planning and Control.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly reviews and validates crew pairings and rosters to ensure compliance with internal policies and aviation regulations.
- Coordinates with relevant departments to ensure that all scheduled flights are covered by qualified crew members and meet standard crew complement requirements.
- Creates, modifies, and adjusts crew pairings and rosters to accommodate ad-hoc flights, re-routings, training revisions, crew absences, and operational disruptions—aiming to optimize crew utilization.
- Manages adjustments to line training rosters in collaboration with relevant teams, ensuring timely completion of required training (e.g., familiarization flights, annual checks, IOEs, recurrent training).
- Communicates roster adjustments to crew members in advance, adhering to notification requirements (e.g., home standby upgrades communicated at least 13 hours before flight ETD).
- Prepares and transmits pre-departure documentation and required authority notifications, such as crew APP/APIS and crew lists.
- Contributes to process and productivity improvements within Crew Control, including evaluating crew management systems and communication/reporting tools.
- Submits timely and accurate reports including delay justifications, crew absences, and performance summaries related to Crew Planning and Control activities.
- Maintains up-to-date crew database records, including qualifications, based on inputs from authorized sources.
- Ensures execution of Crew Control tasks in compliance with internal SOPs and policies to meet or exceed daily OTP targets.
- Coordinates logistics support such as transportation, documentation, accommodation, seat blocking, and crew status tracking to ensure smooth operations.
- Reviews and authorizes legal and compliant crew swaps as needed.
- Ensures all roster changes comply with the Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS) and its approved parameters.
- Participates in internal and external audits, representing the Crew Planning and Control function as required.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the line manager to support departmental goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Aviation, or related fields preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience is acceptable.
- Basic knowledge of crew management systems and productivity tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
Work Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the aviation industry; experience in crew control or handling crew transactions is preferred.
- Familiar with regulatory frameworks such as CAR-OPS 1, especially those related to Flight Time Limitations (FTL) and rest periods.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.
- Well-organized, able to manage time and adapt to changing priorities.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to multitask under pressure.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and proactive in addressing challenges.
- Capable of identifying operational issues and recommending effective solutions.
- Flexible and responsive to schedule changes and dynamic environments.
- Able to balance technical expertise with effective communication to meet organizational objectives.
- Committed to achieving department KPIs and contributing to overall business strategy.
