Associate Professor – Physics

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated faculty member to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution, with a strong academic and research background. A minimum of 8 years of experience is required, including at least 5 years at the Assistant Professor level.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Instruction

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses as per departmental schedules
• Prepare and maintain high-quality teaching materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional content
• Revise subject matter periodically to reflect academic advancements
• Contribute to the design and implementation of a high-quality curriculum
• Monitor student performance and provide remedial support as needed
• Use modern instructional technologies to ensure effective course delivery
• Supervise student research, practical work, thesis writing, and evaluations
• Participate in peer-review processes and supervise teaching internships
• Continuously enhance pedagogical competence and subject expertise

Research, Scholarly & Creative Activities

• Conduct and publish original research aligned with the institution’s objectives
• Present research findings at academic conferences and professional seminars
• Apply for and secure external research funding and grants
• Collaborate within and outside the institution on research and consultancy projects
• Organize and participate in departmental seminars to promote interdisciplinary engagement
• Contribute to raising the profile of the department through scholarly visibility

Academic & Institutional Service

• Serve on departmental and university committees or task forces
• Support student recruitment, retention, and career placement initiatives
• Engage in public outreach, advisory services, and community development programs
• Participate in and support student organization and extracurricular activities
• Uphold university policies on confidentiality, information security, and professional conduct
• Contribute to professional communities through editorial work, peer reviews, and academic associations
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with institutional standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager or Dean

Qualifications and Experience

• Education:
  • PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution
  • Specialty certification or academic distinction (if applicable)
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant academic experience
  • At least 5 years at the level of Assistant Professor at a recognized institution
