Description
The Assistant Program Manager will support the GPMO in overseeing group-wide programs, ensuring risks are identified early, key deliverables are tracked, and communications across stakeholders remain effective. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accountability, governance, and structured execution to ensure the success of strategic initiatives and prevent potential disruptions to the business.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight & Governance
- Support the Program Manager in identifying red flags and risk indicators for critical projects.
- Track, document, and escalate high-risk items for visibility and accountability.
- Maintain project plans, calendars, and key deliverables, ensuring alignment with program timelines.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate effective communication across all stakeholders to align expectations.
- Coordinate periodic meetings, workshops, and status reviews in line with the program calendar.
Vendor & Tool Management
- Support vendor engagement and track external deliverables.
- Ensure systems like JIRA and Confluence are regularly updated with project activities and milestones.
Project Tracking & Reporting
- Assist in tracking performance metrics such as time, cost, and effort against planned KPIs.
- Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on program status and key performance indicators.
Risk & Compliance
- Monitor operational risks and support compliance with organizational policies.
- Ensure proper reporting tools and techniques are utilized for transparency and control.
Financial Monitoring
- Support the tracking of budget and cost metrics to ensure projects stay within approved limits.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to manage project expenditures and financial reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (mandatory)
- PRINCE2 or other Project Management certification (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in banking, IT, or project management
- UAE market experience preferred
- Familiarity with project management tools and processes
Skills & Competencies
Technical/Functional
- Basic understanding of banking systems, operations, and customer impact
- Knowledge of enterprise project portfolio management tools and frameworks
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Behavioral & Leadership
- Effective communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to collaborate across departments and teams
- Adaptability, resilience, and proactive problem-solving mindset
