Description

Accountable for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the Pipe Department, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards while driving performance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Policies, Processes & Procedures

  • Adhere to and enforce departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines to maintain a structured and consistent work environment.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to Information Security protocols and data protection measures to safeguard the company’s intellectual property and confidential information.

Operational Oversight

  • Manage and supervise day-to-day functions within the Pipe Department, ensuring tasks are executed in alignment with defined policies and operational procedures.
  • Prioritize health and safety, making it the foundation of all daily activities and departmental practices.
  • Review and validate project schedules, proactively implementing measures to meet contractual timelines and deliverables.
  • Spearhead research into innovative methods and emerging technologies in pipe fabrication and welding, while streamlining departmental documentation and workflows.
  • Execute tasks assigned by the Department Manager and ensure seamless departmental functioning in their absence, when delegated.
  • Establish and communicate daily priorities to guide team focus and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with other trades, Ship Repair Managers, and Superintendents to ensure effective project coordination and uninterrupted work execution.
  • Conduct site inspections across workshops, offices, and onboard locations to assess work progress, ensure quality, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Identify non-conformities, raise Occurrence Reports, and approve corrective actions for quality-related issues.
  • Authorize material requisitions and halt operations if quality standards are compromised or not met.

Educational & Technical Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, with relevant experience in shipyard or fabrication yard environments.
  • Completed training in ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001 (Awareness, Appreciation, and Interpretation Courses).
  • In-depth knowledge of international piping standards and strong expertise in piping construction management.
  • Broad understanding of interfacing disciplines including Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Structural engineering.
  • Skilled in construction planning, progress tracking, and performance monitoring.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in piping construction within shipyards, refineries, or the offshore oil & gas sector.
  • Strong, dynamic leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing a multicultural workforce under challenging operational conditions.
