Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations within the Pipe Department, ensuring all activities align with established protocols, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintain health and safety as the top priority in all day-to-day tasks and departmental practices.
  • Evaluate and endorse project schedules, taking proactive measures to ensure timely and contractual delivery of assigned work.
  • Lead innovation in pipe fabrication and welding practices, researching and implementing new technologies and refining internal documentation workflows.
  • Execute tasks and directives received from the Department Manager, providing consistent support and operational continuity.
  • Serve as acting Department Manager during their absence, when designated.
  • Set and manage daily priorities to optimize departmental workflow and output.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Ship Repair Managers and Superintendents, to ensure smooth coordination and project integration.
  • Conduct inspections across departmental areas—workshops, offices, and onboard locations—to verify resource efficiency and project quality.
  • Issue Occurrence Reports and validate corrective repair strategies for any rejected work.
  • Authorize material requisitions in accordance with project and department needs.
  • Contribute to the Pipe Section's budgeting process through data analysis and informed recommendations.
  • Track and assess the financial performance of the Pipe Section, identifying underperformance areas and leveraging opportunities for operational and financial improvements.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
  • Solid background in piping construction, with a strong grasp of international piping codes and best practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines such as Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, and Structural.
  • Adept in project planning, execution, and progress tracking.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding, oil & gas, refineries, or offshore platforms focused on piping construction.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse, multicultural teams effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential for managing workforce and stakeholder expectations.
