Job Purpose

Reporting into the Head of International Audit, independently and proactively examining and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls in IBG activities related to all relevant Business Segments (Wholesale/Retail/TGM); Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime, Centralized Operations and other functional area by executing the internal audits/reviews enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and risk management processes and provide the bank’s management that the assets of the Bank are safeguarded and both Bank’s and regulatory policies and procedures are complied with.

Key Result Areas

  • Planning, organizing, executing and concluding the audits to identify weakness in the effectiveness of controls and key processes of the unit(s), operational/regulatory deficiencies
  • As an Audit lead, preparing a comprehensive audit plan of auditable entity to identify the assignment scope, audit approach and critical audit areas/processes to focus on and surface key control gaps.
  • Adhering to the various local regulatory guidelines on the Internal Audit function, ensuring that the Bank complies with the requirements of the relevant regulator and their guidelines on various types of audits required in overseas locations.
  • Preliminary assignment of risk rating of issues.
  • Discussing focused action plans to improve risk management practices; ensure common understanding on the issues and agree to corrective steps to be taken by the auditable entity.
  • Reviewing the closure requests of action plan items.
  • Conducting reviews or participating in special assignments like investigations, product/system development projects, projects for centralization or streamlining of processes, standard operating procedures, etc.
  • Developing professional working relationships with managers and counterparts for the purpose of mutual understanding, easy communication and to obtain their consent on audit findings.
  • Proactively interacting with the relevant Country Business and Support Unit Managers on review findings, surfacing risks and mitigation.
  • Providing regular updates to the Head of International Audit for the preparation of a detailed annual audit plan based on risk assessment and evaluation of various processes/activities within the relevant Country.
  • Fully complying with all systems and procedures in accordance with the rules and guidelines set out in Internal Audit Charter/Manual.

Knowledge, skills and Qualifications

  • MBA or Business graduate from a prestigious and/or well recognized business school. Professional certifications like CIA, ACAMS or CFA are additional advantages.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience with a reputed international/local bank.
  • Specialized knowledge, comprehension and understanding of products and composite risks within various business areas with the ability to project and assess risk end to end.
  • Team leadership qualities (confident, clarity of thoughts, etc.) and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Result and business oriented disciplined thinker, a self-starter with strong analytical organization.
