Web Printer

The Web Printer operates printing equipment and helps maintain consistent print quality throughout production runs. The role requires close monitoring of colour density, registration, paper alignment, ink flow, and tension settings so that output meets quality expectations and avoidable rework is reduced. The printer also carries out routine equipment care and responds to production issues, working with colleagues to maintain safe, efficient, and reliable press operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor print quality across production batches, checking colour density, registration, paper alignment, and overall image consistency.
• Adjust ink flow, press tension, and operating settings to prevent defects and maintain stable production output.
• Maintain the correct balance between ink and dampening systems to reduce scumming, toning, emulsification, and loss of clarity.
• Perform scheduled maintenance such as roller cleaning, blanket replacement, lubrication, and inspection of mechanical components.
• Keep maintenance and production records, identify recurring faults, and notify technical staff when further investigation is needed.
• Follow production instructions, quality checks, housekeeping requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

Requirements

• Practical understanding of web-printing machinery and the variables that affect print consistency.
• Ability to identify common print defects and make controlled adjustments within authorised procedures.
• Willingness to complete routine maintenance and keep accurate logs of equipment condition.
• Ability to work closely with production colleagues and respond to changing run requirements.
