Lab Engineer – Materials Characterization and Testing Laboratory – UAEN

Job Overview

Khalifa University is recruiting a UAE National Lab Engineer for its Advanced Materials Characterization and Testing Laboratory. The position supports research, teaching, and industrial testing related to material strength and structural behaviour. It involves running advanced test equipment, maintaining reliable results, supporting researchers, and following applicable testing standards and environmental, health, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain advanced equipment used for mechanical and structural characterization of materials.
• Support research, teaching, and industrial testing by preparing test setups, specimens, instruments, and documentation.
• Follow relevant international testing standards and maintain consistency in testing procedures and reporting.
• Inspect, calibrate, and monitor equipment and arrange maintenance when performance or reliability issues arise.
• Maintain equipment inventories and manage consumables such as grips, extensometers, and sensors.
• Support procurement decisions, laboratory booking schedules, and the organization of testing activities.
• Apply EHS policies, keep the laboratory safe and orderly, and document testing results accurately.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
• Hiring priority is for UAE Nationals within the university’s training programme.
• Candidates should be comfortable with testing equipment, laboratory documentation, and procedures requiring precision.
• Good attention to detail, technical communication, teamwork, and safety awareness are important.
