Job Overview
Provide specialist advice and strategic support across innovation, research, studies, knowledge and pioneering initiatives. The role helps translate future trends and external benchmarks into programmes that advance organisational readiness and excellence. It also supports partnerships, innovation laboratories, research records and award participation, ensuring that initiatives are implemented, measured and improved in line with organisational priorities.
The work requires coordination across departments, delivery partners and technical specialists. Strong governance, accurate records and timely escalation are important because decisions can affect public infrastructure, service reliability and long-term asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on strategy across research, innovation, knowledge, creativity and pioneering practices.
- Plan excellence requirements and award participation and recommend actions to strengthen results.
- Coordinate implementation and periodic measurement of management plans and best-practice recommendations.
- Support sustainable execution of research, development and innovation strategies in line with policies.
- Track global trends, competitive indicators and opportunities that can improve organisational performance.
- Maintain central information on research, innovations, intellectual property and partnerships, and help evaluate programme maturity.
Requirements
- Applicants should have specialist experience in innovation, research, strategy, knowledge or business excellence.
- The role requires sound judgement, evidence-based recommendations and confident engagement with senior stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating research partnerships, innovation programmes or excellence assessments is beneficial.
- Candidates should be comfortable tracking trends and measuring outcomes.
Qualifications
- A relevant degree in business, science, engineering, research or a related discipline is appropriate.
- Specialist training in innovation, research management or excellence frameworks may be an advantage.
- Applicants should be able to prepare strategic papers, evaluate initiatives and communicate recommendations clearly.
