Endocrinologist

The Endocrinologist evaluates and manages disorders involving hormones, glands and metabolism. The role includes diagnosing complex presentations, arranging appropriate investigations, developing treatment plans and helping patients manage long-term conditions. Clear patient education and coordinated follow-up are important, particularly when care involves diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis or disorders affecting adrenal, pituitary and reproductive hormones.

Key Responsibilities

• Take medical histories, perform focused examinations and interpret relevant laboratory results, imaging and other diagnostic investigations.
• Diagnose and manage endocrine and metabolic disorders, including diabetes, thyroid conditions, calcium disorders and hormonal imbalances.
• Create evidence-based treatment plans, prescribe medication where appropriate and monitor response, side effects and disease progression.
• Explain medication use, lifestyle measures, monitoring plans and warning signs to patients and their families.
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up with primary-care clinicians, dietitians, nurses and other specialists, maintaining complete clinical records.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Hold a recognised medical degree with postgraduate specialist training in endocrinology or an accepted equivalent.
• Meet the licensing standards applicable to practising as an endocrinology specialist in the UAE.
• Be comfortable managing chronic conditions and adjusting care based on clinical findings and individual patient needs.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, confidentiality and clinical-governance requirements.
