Cost Controller

The Cost Controller monitors operating expenses and supports management with accurate financial information. The role helps protect profitability by reviewing purchasing, stock movements, consumption and cost trends across hotel operations. It requires a careful analytical approach and regular coordination with finance, purchasing, stores and operating departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor operational costs and analyse spending patterns to support financial objectives.
• Review stock, purchasing, consumption and inventory records for accuracy.
• Identify variances, investigate unusual movements and communicate findings to relevant managers.
• Prepare cost reports and support reconciliations and routine control checks.
• Coordinate with operating departments, stores, purchasing and finance on cost-related matters.
• Recommend practical improvements that reduce waste and strengthen resource utilisation.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in cost monitoring, financial analysis and operational controls; familiarity with hospitality purchasing and inventory processes is beneficial.
• Strong numerical, analytical and record-keeping skills are important.
• Good Excel and reporting ability; hospitality systems knowledge is useful.
• Ability to work with confidential financial information and multiple departments.
