Colour Material Finish Design Manager

The Colour Material Finish Design Manager leads the selection and application of colours, materials and finishes that shape a consistent and high-quality physical or product experience. The role balances design intent, brand identity, material performance, durability, cost and supplier feasibility. It requires visual judgement, technical knowledge and strong coordination with designers, engineers, procurement, production and external partners from concept development through approval and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop colour, material and finish direction in line with design concepts, brand standards and user needs.
• Research materials, textures, finishes and trends and evaluate their suitability for performance and long-term use.
• Prepare palettes, samples, specifications and presentation materials to communicate design intent.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, suppliers and production teams to validate technical feasibility and cost.
• Review prototypes or installed finishes, resolve quality concerns and maintain organized design documentation.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in colour, materials and finishes design, industrial design, interiors, product design or a related field.
• Strong visual judgement and familiarity with material properties, sample review and specification practices.
• Ability to balance design quality with durability, cost, manufacturing or maintenance constraints.
• Confidence coordinating suppliers and presenting design recommendations to cross-functional teams.
