Child And Adolescent Psychiatrist

This position contributes to mental health services through professional judgement and collaboration. The successful candidate will deliver agreed objectives, maintain accurate records and support consistent, high-quality outcomes within the department’s priorities and approved scope.

Key Responsibilities

Assess children and adolescents presenting with emotional, behavioural, developmental or psychiatric concerns. Conduct age-appropriate clinical interviews and mental-state examinations, gather information from caregivers and other professionals where appropriate, and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide medication management and other evidence-based interventions within competence, monitor progress and adverse effects, and coordinate with psychology, paediatrics, schools and community services. Assess risk, respond to urgent concerns, safeguard vulnerable patients and maintain confidential, accurate records. Communicate sensitively with young people and families and contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews.

Requirements and Qualifications

Applicants need a recognized medical degree, specialist postgraduate training in psychiatry with relevant child and adolescent expertise, and a valid or eligible professional licence for the applicable UAE regulator. Experience managing mental-health conditions in young people is essential. The role requires sound risk assessment, ethical judgement, family engagement, clear documentation and the ability to work collaboratively while respecting safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
