Waiter / Waitress

Kitopi is hiring a Waiter or Waitress to provide attentive service and help guests enjoy a smooth dining experience. The role involves welcoming customers, taking accurate orders, serving food and beverages and keeping the dining area ready for service. A friendly attitude, teamwork and the ability to work efficiently during busy periods are important to success.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and assist them with seating or initial questions when required.
• Present menus, explain dishes and daily specials, and offer recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and communicate special requests clearly to the kitchen or bar.
• Serve orders promptly and check that guests have what they need during their meal.
• Recommend suitable menu items or promotions and use appropriate upselling techniques.
• Respond to concerns professionally and seek help from a supervisor when an issue needs further attention.
• Set, clear and reset tables, keeping chairs, service stations and dining areas clean and organised.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace safety rules.
• Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to reduce delays and maintain a smooth service flow.
• Use point-of-sale systems and handle payments accurately when assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or customer-service experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and cooperative attitude.
• Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic maths skills for bills, cash handling and POS use.
• Flexibility to work shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is helpful.

Skills and Work Approach

Good observation, accuracy, punctuality and a genuine interest in guest service are essential. Candidates should be comfortable standing for much of the shift, supporting teammates when service peaks and maintaining professional standards from the first greeting through payment and farewell.
