Technician – Civil

The Technician - Civil performs preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance of building fabric and civil assets. The role helps preserve the condition, appearance, and functionality of walls, ceilings, floors, doors, windows, finishes, and other building components. Typical work may include masonry, plastering, painting, tiling, gypsum repairs, carpentry, waterproofing, and minor refurbishment. The technician must use tools safely, follow response-time requirements, and keep maintenance records accurate.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect building fabric, architectural finishes, common areas, and civil assets and identify defects before they worsen.
• Repair cracks, plaster, masonry, concrete surfaces, tiles, marble, granite, paving, paintwork, gypsum ceilings, and partitions.
• Carry out minor carpentry repairs to doors, cabinets, shelves, furniture, hinges, handles, locks, and related fittings.
• Perform silicone sealing, grouting, caulking, waterproofing repairs, and rectification of leaks or damaged joints.
• Support small renovation, fit-out, snagging, and refurbishment works, including partitions and floor-finish installation.
• Complete work orders, record materials used, report recurring defects, and follow HSE and permit-to-work requirements.

Requirements

• Hold an ITI, trade certificate, or equivalent training in civil maintenance, masonry, carpentry, or building maintenance.
• Have approximately three to five years of relevant facilities, property, or building-maintenance experience.
• Know how to use hand and power tools safely and select suitable repair materials.
• Be able to read basic building drawings, work independently, and respond to several maintenance requests.

Qualifications and Skills

• Practical capability across finishing works, tiling, painting, gypsum, carpentry, and minor waterproofing repairs.
• Good fault diagnosis, workmanship, and attention to quality and appearance.
• Clear maintenance records, customer communication, and cooperation with other site teams.
• Physical readiness for indoor and outdoor tasks, including work at height when authorised and properly equipped.

Employment Details

This full-time position is based in the UAE and may involve residential, commercial, or mixed-use properties. Shift duties or emergency call-outs may be required depending on the site contract. Safe execution, neat workmanship, and timely completion are central to the role.
