Associate/ Professor- Biological Sciences

Job Overview

Khalifa University is looking for an experienced Biological Sciences academic to lead research and contribute to high-quality teaching and university service. The preferred research profile includes metabolic disease, cancer, and longevity, with particular interest in obesity and multifactorial questions. Key Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, prepare current learning materials, assess student work, and support student achievement.
• Lead a sustained research programme addressing metabolic disease, cancer, longevity, or connected biological questions.
• Publish peer-reviewed research, present at international meetings, and build a strong scholarly profile for the department.
• Identify grant opportunities, prepare funding proposals, and manage research activities in collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Supervise student theses and research projects, contribute to assessment, and mentor researchers at different career stages.
• Participate in department and university committees, academic peer review, professional organizations, and outreach activities.
• Provide academic leadership, strengthen interdisciplinary research, and promote safe, ethical, and responsible research practice.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a related discipline from a recognized institution is required.
• A minimum of ten years of relevant experience is required, including at least five years at Associate Professor level.
• Candidates must show a sustained record of peer-reviewed publication and research leadership.
• Experience applying multifactorial approaches to metabolic disease, obesity, or cancer is particularly relevant.
• The role requires strong teaching, supervision, collaboration, research funding, and academic service capabilities.
