Description
The Legal Counsel - Retail Banking (Emirati Talent Only) vacancy is part of the Legal - Retail Banking function at Mashreq in the United Arab Emirates. The Legal Counsel will provide legal support to retail-banking products and services, advising business teams on contracts, customer terms and legal risks. The role involves drafting and reviewing documentation and helping ensure that customer-facing banking arrangements comply with applicable laws and internal requirements. The successful candidate will contribute to dependable delivery, accurate records and a professional experience for the customers and colleagues supported by the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise retail-banking teams on legal issues involving deposits, investments, cards, loans, mortgages and payments.
- Draft, review and negotiate offer letters, terms and conditions, amendments and related agreements.
- Review legal documentation, powers of attorney and supporting records for completeness and legal effect.
- Identify contractual and regulatory risks and recommend appropriate wording or mitigation.
- Coordinate with business, compliance and other legal colleagues on product and customer matters.
Requirements and Qualifications

- Available job information indicates a law degree and approximately three years of post-qualification experience.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is relevant; retail-banking legal experience is beneficial.
