Job Purpose:
The Senior Retail Credit Analyst is responsible for credit assessment and decision-making process for retail credit applications. This role involves ensuring adherence to credit policies, mitigating risk, and providing guidance to junior assessors, while maintaining efficiency and delivering exceptional customer service. That position is overlooking both the conventional business and digital initiatives in line with the organizational strategy.
Key Result Areas:
- Analyze and assess retail credit applications, including high-value or non-standard loans (e.g., personal loans, credit cards).
- Evaluate the creditworthiness of applicants based on financial analysis, credit history, and repayment capacity.
- Approve, recommend, or decline credit applications within delegated authority limits, providing detailed justifications.
- Oversee and review credit assessments performed by junior assessors to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Identify and correct discrepancies in credit evaluations to maintain high-quality credit decisions.
- Ensure that all credit decisions comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.
- Monitor and mitigate risks associated with retail credit portfolios, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to junior credit assessors to improve their technical skills and decision-making capabilities.
- Act as the point of escalation for complex credit applications or policy queries.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including sales teams, branch staff, and legal teams, to ensure all necessary information is obtained for credit assessments.
- Clearly communicate credit decisions and recommendations to relevant parties.
- Prepare detailed reports on assessment outcomes, trends, and compliance metrics for senior management.
- Identify opportunities to streamline the credit assessment process and improve efficiency.
- Participate in the development and updating of credit policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of credit assessment principles and retail lending products.
- Expertise in financial statement analysis, and risk assessment.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in retail credit.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in credit analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel).
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Attention to detail and high standards for accuracy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in financial institutions with a relevant experience in retail banking.
- Proven track record of assessing complex credit applications and making sound decisions.
- Certification in credit risk management or financial analysis (preferred).
