Procurement Manager – Ground Handling & Airport Services

Job Overview

Lead procurement activities supporting ground handling and airport services, ensuring that supplies, equipment and contracted services are obtained at the right quality, cost and time. The manager oversees sourcing strategy, tendering, supplier evaluation and contract performance while working closely with operational stakeholders. The role balances cost effectiveness with reliability, safety, service standards and continuity of airport operations.

The position works closely with operational colleagues and other departments to resolve issues, keep records complete and meet agreed deadlines. A practical approach, consistent procedures and attention to quality help maintain reliable day-to-day airline operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop sourcing plans and procurement schedules in line with operational and business requirements.
• Manage tenders, supplier assessments, commercial negotiations and recommendations for contract awards.
• Review supplier performance against agreed quality, delivery, cost and service measures.
• Negotiate contractual terms and coordinate internal approvals for procurement decisions.
• Identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities without compromising safety or service delivery.
• Work with ground handling and airport-services teams to forecast needs, resolve supply issues and maintain supplier accountability.

Requirements

• Applicants should have management experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain or airport-related services.
• The role requires strong commercial judgement, negotiation skills and contract-management experience.
• Candidates should be able to balance cost, quality, delivery and operational risk.
• Experience with supplier performance reviews and competitive tendering is beneficial.

Qualifications

• A degree in supply chain management, business, procurement or a related discipline is appropriate.
• Professional procurement qualifications may be advantageous.
• Candidates should be comfortable analysing bids, budgets, commercial terms and supplier data.
