Cargo Agent – dnata Cargo

The Cargo Agent carries out a broad range of import and export handling activities to keep freight, courier items and mail moving safely and on schedule. The position includes shipment acceptance, documentation, customer coordination, delivery, equipment operation and the build-up or breakdown of cargo units. The agent checks each handover carefully and follows the required standards for ordinary and special cargo.

Key Responsibilities

• Process cargo acceptance, delivery, build-up and breakdown activities in accordance with departmental procedures and airline requirements.
• Guide loaders and equipment operators to handle cargo, courier items and mail safely and in the correct sequence.
• Inspect shipments and verify quantities and paperwork at acceptance, delivery, build-up and breakdown points.
• Enter shipment information into cargo systems promptly and maintain accurate manual records when required.
• Coordinate with Customs and other government bodies to support compliant movement of freight, courier items and mail.
• Handle special loads, including dangerous goods, live animals and valuable cargo, according to applicable IATA guidance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Completion of O Level schooling or 12 years of schooling, or an equivalent qualification.
• At least two years of experience in logistics, freight or cargo operations.
• English language proficiency at the required operational test level and a valid licence for equipment operated.
• Introductory civil aviation training is an advantage; only operate equipment for which training and authorisation are current.

A strong Cargo Agent is safety conscious, accurate with numbers and documentation, and calm when volumes or flight deadlines increase. Clear communication, customer awareness, teamwork and the ability to follow standard operating procedures are essential. Physical cargo tasks require attention to manual-handling guidance and the correct use of equipment.

Employment Details

Full-time position in Dubai involving active cargo-terminal work and coordination with operational teams and external authorities. Duties must comply with safety, security, quality and environmental requirements.
