Description

The Senior Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Dubai’s traffic infrastructure. This position oversees a team of Senior Traffic System Operators and coordinates with multiple stakeholders to maintain real-time traffic control systems, tunnel safety, and incident response protocols in alignment with RTA’s vision of Safe and Smooth Transport for All.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate dissemination of traffic information via the Advanced Traveler Information System.
  • Supervise and operate SCADA systems in Airport, Shindagha, and Sheikh Rashid Hospital tunnels to maintain life-safety critical operations.
  • Oversee Smart Drive system operations and ensure incident data is accurately shared with road users; compile monthly incident summaries for the Chief Supervisor.
  • Support major events (e.g., New Year’s celebrations, Expo 2020) using advanced traffic management systems to prevent incidents.
  • Monitor travel times on Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and real-time traffic data shared via mobile and web platforms.
  • Ensure field equipment health status is monitored and critical faults are reported and resolved promptly.
  • Provide feedback to the Chief Supervisor to enhance operational efficiency within the assigned Zone.
  • Prepare monthly shift rosters and manage a team of Senior Traffic System Operators.
  • Ensure UTC/SCOOT systems are actively monitored to optimize traffic signal operations on major arterial roads.
  • Coordinate with tunnel control rooms, EC3, Tram OCC, Dubai Police, Civil Defense, and Dubai Ambulance to prevent secondary incidents.
  • Oversee proactive monitoring of critical corridors during peak hours using CCTVs and iTraffic systems.
  • Assist with Tram-related traffic intersections to ensure safety and smooth flow.
  • Ensure timely activation and deactivation of incident response plans.
  • Enforce compliance with Traffic Management Center SOPs and QHSE procedures during emergencies.
  • Review Maximo logs and ensure accurate incident/fault documentation.
  • Achieve KPI targets related to incident/fault reporting and shift handovers; submit monthly reports to the Chief Supervisor.
  • Escalate critical incidents or faults to the Chief Supervisor during crises.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s or Higher Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Information Technology, International Studies, Electronic Engineering, or Software Engineering from a recognized university.
    • 0–2 years of relevant experience for Bachelor/Higher Diploma holders.
    • Diploma holders require a minimum of 2 years of experience.
    • Candidates with Law or International Studies degrees require a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Hands-on experience with traffic control systems including iTraffic (and subsystems), SCOOT/UTC, SCADA for tunnels, SMART Drive.
  • Proficiency in Maximo and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong leadership and coordination abilities.
  • Knowledge of QHSE procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
