Associate Vice President – Accounts Payable

About This Role:

As Associate Vice President – Accounts Payable, you will lead and manage the accounts payable function across the organization, ensuring accurate and timely vendor payments, compliance with internal controls, and efficient financial operations. You will be responsible for overseeing payment processes, accounting entries, and vendor relationships across the head office, units, and branches.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Oversee and authorize accounting entries for invoices, payments, and other transactions in GL and Finacle systems.
  • Approve vendor payments, SWIFT transfers, manager’s cheques, and account credits.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal policies and procedures for payments and accounting.
  • Maintain and review MIS reports related to payments and accounting activities.
  • Monitor vendor payment turnaround times and ensure SLA compliance.
  • Review supplier aging reconciliations and approve month-end entries (HR, switch fees, postage, lease payments).
  • Manage utility bill payments, petty cash accounting, and TCC claims.
  • Reconcile suspense accounts and ensure accurate accounting for vendor contracts.
  • Handle vendor queries and complaints efficiently.
  • Recommend and implement automated solutions for improved control and efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking a UAEN with strong leadership and technical expertise in accounts payable operations within a banking environment. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a finance function, preferably within a banking environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GL accounting and banking systems (e.g., Finacle).
  • Proven experience in vendor management, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations, especially during month-end closings.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience in automation and process optimization for financial operations.
  • Must be a UAEN.
