Tailor

The Tailor – Alterations role delivers accurate garment adjustments while supporting a polished and customer-friendly retail service. The position involves understanding each customer’s requested fit, selecting suitable alteration methods, completing work to a high standard and meeting agreed collection times. It also supports the smooth operation of the tailoring area through careful equipment use, quality checks, basic service assistance and a clean, organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure garments and complete hems, resizing, repairs and other alterations according to the customer’s requested fit.
• Assess fabric, garment construction and design before recommending practical alteration options.
• Operate sewing machines and hand tools safely, then inspect each finished item before returning it to the customer.
• Explain alteration options, expected completion times and related service details in a polite and clear manner.
• Maintain an orderly work area, report equipment issues and support store operations when required.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A diploma or certificate in tailoring or garment manufacturing is preferred.
• Two to three years of tailoring or garment-alteration experience is expected.
• Good knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, stitching methods and finishing standards.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and basic customer communication; cashier-system familiarity is an advantage.
