Senior Engineer-Roads Urban Design (Only UAE National)

Job Overview

Lead the planning and delivery of road urban-design work that makes streets and public spaces functional, accessible and visually cohesive. The position reviews design submissions, checks construction against approved standards and supports sustainable streetscape outcomes across Dubai. It also coordinates supporting design, reporting and handover activities with the departments and stakeholders involved in road projects.

The work requires coordination across departments, delivery partners and technical specialists. Strong governance, accurate records and timely escalation are important because decisions can affect public infrastructure, service reliability and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Review contractor drawings and design submissions for technical accuracy, compliance and consistency with approved urban-design guidance.
• Visit project sites to check materials, finishes and construction against approved plans and specifications.
• Coordinate the design and completion of areas affected by road works, following agreements with relevant municipal stakeholders.
• Track studies, budgets, contract expectations and follow-up actions, escalating deviations before they affect delivery.
• Coordinate project handovers, memorandums of understanding and periodic or management-requested reports.
• Help improve contractor work methods and contribute to standards for public art, signage and streetscape enhancement.

Requirements

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in architectural engineering, urban planning, civil engineering, electrical engineering or a related engineering field.
• The stated experience threshold is at least three years with a master’s degree or four years with a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Candidates should be familiar with engineering documentation and the standards relevant to urban road design.
