Brief Job Description

The College of Health Sciences at Abu Dhabi University invites outstanding candidates to apply for the fulltime Teaching Assistant for the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS). The starting date of the appointment is Spring 2025 in Abu Dhabi campus.

The CoHS offers BSc. in Environmental Health and Safety, Public Health, Laboratory Medicine, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Molecular and Medical Genetics. There are opportunities for multidisciplinary inter-college collaborative research across ADU, and inter-institutional research collaborations in the Abu Dhabi area and U.A.E.

Key Responsibilities

Assistance in Classrooms and Labs

• Assists faculty members in classroom learning activities
• Organizes joint tutorial sessions for students with faculty members
• Ensures labs are stocked with required consumables
• Monitors and ensures lab equipment is well maintained and calibrated as required
• Assists in conducting and administering lab experiments
• Provides capstone troubleshooting and support during competitions
• Delivers lab tutorials as requested by supervisor. Holds help-sessions for students
• Proctors student exams
• Assists faculty members with research activities
• Provides limited coverage for the faculty when they are away attending research
  
  

conferences outside campus

Assistance outside classroom

• Coordinates with the lab technician on requirements for the lab as per faculty needs
• Assists with key department events
• Assists with lab scheduling
  
  

Administrative support

• Assists in course file completion and compilation of documents
• Performs administrative tasks such as photocopying, sorting of hand-outs,
  
  

correspondence, etc.

• Grades assignments and lab experiments when applicable and maintains grade
  
  

records of student assignments

• Takes attendance and maintains the class attendance records, maintains accurate
  
  

and up-to-date records, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters degree in biological preferably biomedical Sciences
• Preferably with previous teaching experience
• Considerably skilled in laboratory setting and experimentation
• Special Skills and Abilities: Time management, teamwork, presentation, written and oral communication, and computer skills
