Description
Azizi Developments is a leading, award-winning Dubai-based developer with over 12,000 residential units sold across the city’s prime destinations. Known for our transparency, quality, and construction-driven approach, we continue to shape Dubai’s skyline with landmark projects such as Burj Azizi (set to be the world’s second tallest tower), Monaco Mansions, and Azizi Venice—a luxurious, Venetian-inspired waterfront community.
As part of our long-term strategy and commitment to sustainability, we’re proud to announce our expansion into the Energy sector. Our new Energy Division will focus on clean and reliable power generation, spanning thermal, solar PV, wind, gas, hydro, and hybrid technologies.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer(Energy) to oversee all electrical engineering aspects of our power generation projects, including thermal, utility-scale solar PV, wind, gas, hydro, and hybrid plants. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in electrical system design, grid integration, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure reliable, efficient, and code-compliant electrical infrastructure from concept to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Technical Oversight:
- Lead and review the electrical design of power generation facilities, including generation units, switchgear, transformers, protection systems, SCADA, and interconnection facilities.
- Define technical specifications for electrical equipment, cable sizing, grounding, lighting, and grid compliance.
- Review and approve design packages, SLDs, load flow studies, arc flash, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
Project Execution & Grid Interface:
- Ensure proper execution of electrical works during construction, including installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Interface with utilities, transmission system operators, and regulators for grid connection approvals, grid code compliance, and synchronization procedures.
- Supervise FATs, SATs, and performance tests for electrical equipment.
- Work closely with the procurement and project management teams to manage technical risks, delays, and change orders.
Quality Assurance & Standards:
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical engineering standards and codes (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of internal engineering standards and review procedures.
- Participate in technical due diligence, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Lead a team of electrical engineers and coordinate with civil, mechanical, and automation teams to ensure seamless integration of all systems.
- Engage with EPC contractors, consultants, OEMs, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Provide mentorship and technical direction to junior staff and assist in building team capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (master’s preferred)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering with 5+ years in power generation or T&D projects
- Deep understanding of high-voltage and medium-voltage systems, substation design, relay protection, and grid integration
- Proficient in tools such as ETAP, Dig SILENT, Power Factory, AutoCAD Electrical, PSCAD, or equivalent
- Experience working in EPC, owner’s engineer, or utility-side roles on large infrastructure projects
- Familiar with power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, and utility interconnection processes
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hybrid)
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid controls
- Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent registration preferred
- Knowledge of SCADA, communication protocols, and cybersecurity standards (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3)
- Familiarity with permitting, environmental, and HSE considerations for electrical works
