Description
Responsible for analyzing, processing, and maintaining the company's financial transactions and records in accordance with approved accounting standards and procedures. The role supports the preparation of budgets, financial reports, and analysis, and involves coordination with external stakeholders such as government entities, banks, auditors, GSAs, and suppliers to ensure compliance with Air Arabia's policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accounting controls and financial security by auditing financial documents, adhering to policies and procedures, and reporting any discrepancies to the line manager.
- Maintain accuracy in all financial entries recorded in SAGE X3, in alignment with the company’s financial structure and standards.
- Handle all fuel vendor invoices and inquiries promptly and accurately; process invoices for approval and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve issues and ensure timely payments.
- Process debit and credit notes accurately and on time, ensuring they are correctly posted to cost centers in the SAGE X3 system.
- Verify timely receipt of fuel price notifications from suppliers; cross-check with contract terms, highlight discrepancies to the Management Accounts Manager, and update system data accordingly.
- Monitor outsourced service providers to ensure all invoices are processed promptly; address any issues that arise and maintain up-to-date procedural manuals.
- Track and manage the renewal of bank guarantees received from fuel suppliers in accordance with contractual timelines and internal procedures.
- Reconcile general account discrepancies, including monthly supplier balance reconciliations, by collecting and analyzing account data.
- Review all fuel-related accounts before monthly and annual closing, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all related information.
- Analyze non-technical cost areas and collaborate with departments to identify cost-saving opportunities; review actual expenditure to inform budget planning.
- Prepare financial reports such as MIS reports by gathering and analyzing account data and trends; maintain data backups to ensure information security.
- Support external audit processes by coordinating schedules and documentation as directed by management.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and promote supplier confidence.
- Continuously develop professional knowledge through training, professional reading, and networking.
- Contribute to departmental goals and performance by supporting related initiatives and delivering results as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA) are an added advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint; skilled in internet research and web-based tools.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate finance or accounting, preferably in a regional or multinational organization.
- Background in the aviation, travel, or tourism industry, especially in low-cost carriers, is considered a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle, processes, and regulatory frameworks such as SFAS.
- Strong numerical aptitude, analytical skills, and attention to detail are essential.
- Experience with computerized accounting systems and financial modeling tools is required.
- Capable of managing reporting deadlines while maintaining high-quality outputs and identifying irregularities with corrective recommendations.
- High level of confidentiality and adherence to financial procedures and standards.
- Cost-conscious with strong negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, and able to collaborate with senior stakeholders and external partners to support business objectives.
