What youâll learn & achieve::
Responsible for building and nurturing relationships regionally and internationally. Undertaking activities that advance our mission and support implementation of our strategy. Identifying, proposing, and implementing approved tactics. Cultivating and maintaining key relationships and representing Underwriters Laboratories Inc. within the assigned region. Educating key stakeholders about Underwriters Laboratories Inc., and educating Underwriters Laboratories Inc. about country or regional matters. Managing collaboration in assigned geographic region.
Strategy Implementation: Influences and implements UL’s Global Standards Strategy in the region and supports the implementation of Underwriters Laboratories Inc.’s global strategy where appropriate.- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with National standardization bodies, federal and provincial government organizations, and with regional and international Standards developers, regulators, industry associations, and others who have an influence on the assigned region ability to adopt UL standards. Demonstrated ability to influence partners to consider UL standards for use in the country/region.
Tactical Development: With broad local regional and country knowledge, identifies and implements tactics and activities to support the overall global standards strategy in the region.- Relationship Management: Responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with key governmental and non-governmental entities who have the ability to facilitate the advancement of UL’s mission in the region. This includes but is not limited to national standards bodies, regional standards bodies, provincial standards bodies, local representatives of international standards bodies, regulators, code officials, key trade and industry associations, consumer groups and others who would be impacted by or may impact the advancement of our mission
- Mission Activities and Advancement: Through an established understanding of needs in their assigned region, responsible for the identification of potential mission related initiatives and development of proposed activities and proposed metrics for measuring success. Responsible for tactical implementation and fulfillment. Examples of mission activities may include, but are not limited to, sharing UL Standards and facilitating their consideration and use, facilitating the sharing of UL safety, science, and standards information through workshops or other technical exchanges, and obtaining local knowledge regarding mission related (safety, sustainability, security, health, etc.) experience and sharing that information within Underwriters Laboratories.
- Local Representation: Responsible for representing Underwriters Laboratories Inc. with stakeholders in the country/region and at key meetings, forums, symposia, and conferences. Elevate our reputation in the region through presentations, articles, panel participation, social media, etc., to educate and to advance specific initiatives.
- Education: Educating stakeholders regarding Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and educating Underwriters Laboratories Inc. staff and management regarding regional relationships, standards and regulatory matters, local needs, and other considerations.
- Marketing: Identify marketing needs and oversee development of UL Standards marketing materials specific to the country/region.
- STP Member Support: Assist in recruiting new STP members for UL committees. Provide local support as needed regarding the UL STP process and use of CSDS for submitting proposals.
- Outreach: Representing UL Standards through high level presentations, articles and other outreach. Managing the UL standards message for the country/region.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Organizes workshops, roundtables, and conclaves to bring together key stakeholders and address key standards issues. Effectively arranges for speakers and consistently and quickly acts on the opportunities arising from these events.

What makes you a great fit::
Undergraduate Degree plus 8 years of directly related experience. Working knowledge of national and international standards development process and the vocabulary common to SDO Community.Familiarity with WTO/TBT and Regional Standards Development Processes and Structure. Demonstrated solid understanding of relationship with related government agencies, industry associations, and standards development organizations.Familiarity with the issues surrounding intellectual property rights and copyright protection.High level of competence in communication and presentation; fluent in Regional language(s) and English (writtena and spoken).Self-motivated, proactive, responsible, strong drive for results and high quality execution.Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills in all phases of a project.
