Genomics England successfully led the world-leading 100,000 Genomes Project, which compared and analysed individuals’ genetic codes to help diagnose, treat and prevent illness.
We’re now accelerating our impact, working with the NHS to further develop and embed genomic healthcare and research in Britain. Job Description
Are you a Software Developer interested in the challenge of advancing personalised genomic medicine in the UK using coding skills and software architecture?
As a Software Engineer at Genomics England, you’ll be responsible for producing the code, design & architecture that we need to perform. You’ll be coding, developing, debugging and automating on a daily basis, collaborating across the organisation, to enable us to perform and achieve our mission.
You’ll be great at identifying, prioritising and executing various tasks in the SDLC, a strong collaborator with a passion for peer reviews, fixing & improving products with teams and vendors, and will have the desire to coach and develop colleagues.
Ideally, you’ll be familiar with agile and advocate its place in Engineering. You’ll come from a background of test-driven development and have worked with cloud platforms like Azure & AWS, system monitoring tools, automated testing frameworks, relational and NoSQL databased and ORM frameworks (such as Hibernate). You’ll also be proficient with collaborative development tools – Github, Confluence and Jira are ours – and above all, be keen to learn new skills, languages and technologies. We thrive on knowledge sharing and improving ourselves, and we’d love it if you do too!
Our tech: Python, Java, REACT, ShinyR, R, AWS, Linux, Windows.
Qualifications
BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience
