Job Description:
An opportunity exists within Siemens Rail Infrastructure to recruit an experienced Project Buyer to be located in our Chippenham Project office. In this role you will be responsible for the procurement of Project Materials predominately of railway products, parts & services.
You will continually seek to improve efficiency through the development of best practice procurement techniques. Joining a project buying team of 10 across 7 regions nationally the position will report to the Head of Project Materials Buying.
Job Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the regional Material Interface Engineer (MIE)
- Engagement with key stakeholders is key to the role.
- To obtain from the project, planning & bill of materials information.
- Ensuring that the client approved materials/parts are delivered within time, to budget, and to specification.
- Responsible for day to day ordering and expediting for your given project(s).
- Responsible for obtaining quotations from suppliers where framework agreements are not in place.
- Ensure early and continuous integration of the Purchasing function into the project.
- Assist Bids & Tendering department in client bid preparation and with support during client negotiations.
- Ensure that timely communication of all internal reports is met.
- Work as a team to enable our department KPI’s are met on activities such as material savings, cost avoidance and electronic e-bid & auctions.
- Fully participate in all relevant Siemens Procurement Management training & process activities.
- As one of the Procurement representatives in the Chippenham office you will help to promote the presence of the Procurement team in the project(s) in addition to the office and be part of a small regional team for all purchasing requirements with the exception of “Indirect “ purchasing. i.e. IT, office stationery, phones etc
- Supporting Project Managers to develop and manage project delivery plans.
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team & under time pressure.
- Delivery focused.
- SAP experience.
- Good communication skills written & oral (essential)
- Previous experience of working in a project procurement role, ideally rail.
- A working knowledge of ERP
- Good interpersonal and persuasion skills.
- Proactive & challenging.
- Commercially savvy.
- Good numerate and Microsoft IT skills.
- MCIPS qualified or in the process of studying.
