Would you like to work with startups and startup organizations across Africa to help the highest potential startups and ensure AWS is fully engaged in working effectively with them As a Senior Business Development Manager, Africa, you’ll be part of our Startup Business Development, Early Stage Startup & Scale team. In this role you will work with startup organizations such as Accelerators, Incubators and VCs and their portfolio startups across Africa to bolster their success and support their journey with AWS services and programs. You will have the ownership of developing and executing scalable initiatives to serve the startup ecosystem in Africa as part of our quest to win every startup.

Candidates must have a background as a venture capital investor, or a startup founder, or an accelerator operator, where they’ve built a business, raised capital or was involved in making venture investment decisions or worked at an early stage startup. Candidates with experience from startup/investment organizations such financial advisory firms, technology media, founder’s club, corporate venture investment teams, and family offices may also be considered.

Ideally, you are someone that has experience working with founders, startup companies, VC firms and incubators. You have an innate understanding of entrepreneurs, company founders and technical decision makers at early stage companies.

Key job responsibilities
. Develop and execute scalable initiatives and programs for startup organizations across Africa, working closely with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales, partners, marketing, technical, support, training teams, etc)
. Identify, develop and manage relationships with startup organizations such as Accelerators, Incubators and VCs to educate them about how AWS can help their portfolio companies scale and grow their SaaS business models by leveraging AWS services, resources, and go-to-market programs
. Work closely with startup founders to ensure they’re successfully engaging with AWS, making sure they have the technical and business resource required for optimal customer experience, and identifying additional opportunities for them to work more deeply with AWS and other Amazon business units
. Prepare and deliver data-driven reviews to the senior management about progress, achievements, and roadblocks.
. Participate in startup community events of all kinds to identify high potential startups and build personal relationship with startup founders and influencers

About the team
The AWS Startup Business Development team works with startups, accelerators and incubators, angel and VC investors and entrepreneurs. We navigate people and programs across AWS and Amazon to help startups grow and succeed.

. Startup Founder/CxO experience and/or venture investment experience
. Passion for startups with innate desire to work with startup founders and help them grow
. Experience launching new programs and products
. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion
. Strong attention to detail and the ability to deal with ambiguity
. Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to cross functional audiences
. Persuasive verbal & written communication skills with senior leaders
. Demonstrated ability to work successfully cross-functionally and communicate effectively with senior leadership on program objective, goals and metrics.


. Previous work experience in large tech companies
. MBA or equivalent from a top tier institution
. Well networked in the startup ecosystem and a regular speaker or panel member at key startup events
