Job Description

Scientific Director, Clinical Communications

As a Scientific Director, you will be working with a team dedicated to producing content that will educate and inform healthcare professionals and patients with a goal of improving outcomes of care. Your primary responsibility will be focused on utilizing your clinical training, experience, and leadership abilities to analyze and interpret clinical data to help craft projects from conception through delivery. While working with both internal and external stakeholders to execute programs, you will also be in a position to continually learn and improve your understanding of important topics in healthcare from experts in the space.

This position interfaces with clients, faculty, and a variety of internal professional services to ensure content and programs produced meet high standards of quality, accuracy, and relevance for the audience. The opportunity exists to regularly engage leading healthcare thought leaders as well as present clinical information and perspectives to associates and clients. Candidates for this position must demonstrate superior communication skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly and multitask to meet deadlines.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops outlines and suggests subject matter for content-based projects in print, digital, and live mediums; contributes and supports content development process
  • Generates interview and discussion guides for faculty based on clinical literature and other relevant data.
  • Attends live (and virtual) events including professional conferences, advisory boards, and similar programming to capture presentation highlights or other content for project deliverables. May also support development of presentation materials and summary documents.
  • Provides support as a subject matter expert for business development efforts; working collaboratively with sales associates to identify and present opportunities for supported projects and programs
  • Participates in project management functions (e.g., development of timelines, budgets, etc.)



  • An advanced degree in a clinical field (e.g., RN, PharmD) or non-clinical degree (PhD) with 3-5 years of relevant work experience (medical communications experience preferred)
  • Broad clinical/therapeutic category expertise; willingness and ability to master a new therapeutic category or disease state, and experience in a clinical setting is helpful; oncology experience a plus
  • Must be able to interact professionally with clients and external experts such as faculty and authors
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and knowledge of AMA style helpful
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and communication/presentation skills as well as leadership experience
