The opportunity

This isn’t just a planning & buying role. It’s an exciting opportunity for someone take ownership of talent attraction media campaigns through the full life-cycle from brief, planning and buying, through to operational oversight, campaign management and reporting.

It’s also an opportunity to become a dedicated and reliable specialist for external clients and internal stakeholders, building trusted relationships with clients as their agency recruitment media specialist.

Who you will work with

MSL is part of the Publicis Communications. It is a Creative Communications agency with specialisms in PR, Sustainability and Employee.

The recruitment media planning and buying function has a very close relationship with MSL acting as an in-house function and working alongside them to service their Employee clients. This accounts for the vast majority of the recruitment media function’s activity.

MSL work with brands such as AB InBev, Airbus, Bank of America, HSBC and Boehringer Ingelheim with projects and campaigns having both a UK and European-wide scope.

Through the collaborative Power of One model, the function also works with Apple who sit with another Publicis agency, as well as bespoke related projects for other Publicis clients.

Job Description

The role of Recruitment Media Senior Executive will be to deliver bespoke and relevant media solutions for clients. This includes:

  • Assessing client media briefs from MSL account stakeholders, and liaising with either MSL or the client direct to establish full clarity on the need and requirement
  • Researching and creating relevant bespoke media plans, working with media partners to establish best solutions and to negotiate costs
  • Delivering (and presenting where required) your plans, with clear substantiation of use for each media and the solution it provides
  • Process buys and orders on their behalf with media partners
  • Working alongside client account team stakeholders to help ensure the campaign is successfully delivered
  • Manage and report on media campaigns – you’ll be responsible for delivery, performance oversight and reporting where relevant

The scale of individual campaigns can vary significantly, so you’ll be expected to work across range of requirements according to client need.

The fundamental focus of activity is through recruitment specific platforms like job boards or vertical trade channels, with a strong reliance on biddable media too (search & social). Whilst this tends to be the core of most activity, briefs can also offer opportunities to work with a range of other media such as print, outdoor, radio etc.


  • You will possess strong experience in a client-facing account or media planning role
  • Previous experience within a recruitment communications agency is ideal, but is not essential.
  • You will have a rudimentary knowledge and experience of paid social media campaigns (either your own direct activation or in partnership with a specialist)
  • You are curious and pro-active – willingness to investigate and pursue queries within briefs, media proposals and reporting
  • You will be adept at interpreting data and identifying themes and inconsistencies
  • You will possess strong experience in a client-facing account or media planning role

Additional Information

Location note:  Starcom is based in White City. This is the hiring location. However, in reality, the recruitment media function works in-house alongside MSL who are soon to be based in Chancery Lane (currently Baker St). Most of your office-based hours will be based here. However, you will also have access to our White City offices, and there will be occasions where working from White City will be required
