Job Description:
As the IT Data Engineer you will be working in a small IT team, supported where necessary by specialist consultants. The objective of the Nando’s Data Engineer role is to support and enable the Nando’s Business Intelligence (BI) team in providing actionable insight by designing, building and maintaining effective and efficient data solutions that are consumable by BI tools and self-service platforms. The role will understand how to wrangle big and fast data and seek opportunities to experiment and innovate using the latest in analytics and DevOps techniques.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to others in technical and functional areas to facilitate Nando’s making best use of its data assets across the business. Examples include explaining the art of the possible to stakeholders to architectural decisions to query optimisation
- Deliver updates to stakeholders on best practise and opportunities (e.g. automation, patterns, use cases etc.)
- Based on business requirements, leverage AWS and Snowflake technology to transform raw data to be consumable by BI tools and self-service solutions (principally Tableau)
- Quality and management of data and meta-data, including documentation of data audit, archiving, and restoration processes
- Extracting Data from various structured and potentially unstructured data sources using tools such as AWS Glue and Stitch
- Facilitate experimentation and innovation in AWS data driven tools and techniques to leverage structured, unstructured, big and fast datasets
- Champion the Nando’s journey towards being a data led business
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- Ability to lead and to also work collaboratively in a team setting
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think laterally and deliver innovative solutions
- Alignment to Nando’s purpose and values
- 3 to 5 years’ experience working as a Data Engineer in medium sized organisation with hands on design, build and maintenance of data Extraction, Storage, Aggregation and Transformation systems
- Ability to work successfully and productively in a team environment or as an individual contributor
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, with strong influencing, commercial and negotiation skills
- Self-starter and finisher, with a strong ability to manage priorities and relationships as appropriate in a high pressured, complex environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and build productive relationships at all levels
- Ability to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies
